Computational Challenges in Global Ultra-High-Resolution Atmospheric Simulation The trend toward higher-resolution atmospheric simulations continues to accelerate. In this study, we conducted a global atmospheric simulation with a 220-meter mesh, utilizing more than half of the computational resources of the supercomputer Fugaku. This resolution qualifies as Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) for deep convective clouds and represents a significant step toward achieving a global LES. In this presentation, we share the challenges encountered during this process.
