Feasibility Study for Operation Technology on Next-Generation's HPC Infrastructure

MEXT has been promoting "Research and Study on Next Generation Computing Infrastructure," also known as "post-Fugaku Feasibility Study," since Aug. 2022.In this project, a research team was formed to conduct an operational technology survey in the next-generation HPC infrastructure consisting of operational members from major resource-providing organizations in Japan.Based on knowledge of the design and operation of various systems, we are studying how to configure and operate the flagship and second-tier systems in Japan, including leveraging data, unifying user interfaces, and linking HPC systems, data management platforms, and public clouds. We also study how to tackle the rising cost of electricity and the reduction of CO2 emissions. We eventually aim to offer a platform that contributes to the promotion of Society 5.0 and the achievement of the SDGs, as well as a commonized and sustainable infrastructure for researchers in Japan.This talk will present the current progress report of our research survey team.
