34th Advanced Supercomputing Environment Seminar (ASE Seminar) held

The ASE Seminar is organized by the Information Technology Center, the University of Tokyo, irregularly, led by guest lecturers from Japan and overseas.
Since 2016, the Information Technology Center, the University of Tokyo, and the Faculty of Engineering, Information and Systems of the University of Tsukuba have been participating in the ESSEX-II Project (Equipping Sparse Solvers for Exascale), implemented as a part of the SPPEXA Program (German Priority Programme 1648, Software for Exascale Computing) of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).
At the 34th ASE Seminar, the Leading PI of the ESSEX-II Project, Professor Gerhard Wellein (Friedrich-Alexander-Universitat Erlangen-Nurnberg (FAU)) and Co-PI Dr.-Ing. Achim Basermann (Deutsches Zentrum fur Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR, German Aerospace Center)), were invited to deliver a lecture on topics including performance modeling and large-scale applications in the field of aerospace. Other lectures were also delivered by researchers from The University of Tokyo and University of Tsukuba. A total of 17 participants from within and outside of the University of Tokyo attended the seminar, and active discussions were held.
