Eligibility for use

The purpose of the Center's system is "to serve academic research, education, and social contribution," and those who are allowed to use the system are as follows. However, for individuals classified as non-residents under the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act, we will conduct necessary verification to determine whether to permit their use. Additionally, foreign residents will be required to submit documents specified separately by the Center.

  1. Faculty members, staff, and equivalent personnel of universities, colleges of technology, and inter-university research institutes. *1
  2. Students and equivalent personnel of universities and colleges of technology. *2
  3. Individuals engaged in research at institutions under the jurisdiction of national or local public organizations for the purpose of academic research or education.
  4. Individuals engaged in research at institutions, other than those stipulated in the preceding item, that aim to promote academic research, education, or social contribution and are approved by the Director of the Information Technology Center, the University of Tokyo (hereinafter referred to as the "Director").
  5. Individuals applying to undertake academic research funded by public funds such as Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, excluding those stipulated in any of the preceding items.
  6. Individuals affiliated with private companies or similar organizations who fall under any of the following, excluding those stipulated in item 5:
  7.  (i) Individuals approved for participation through a review based on the review regulations by a separately stipulated committee.
     (ii) Individuals participating as collaborators under a contract or similar arrangement with an institution to which any person stipulated in items 1 to 4 belongs.
  8. Individuals engaged in selected research projects reviewed by the Research Organization for Information Science and Technology or the Joint Usage/Research Center for Interdisciplinary Large-scale Information Infrastructure.
  9. Other individuals specially approved by the Director.

*1 Individuals equivalent to faculty and staff affiliated with universities, colleges of technology, and inter-university research institutes:
Individuals holding an official status at the relevant institution and are engaged in research at that institution, such as:
  Specially Appointed Faculty, Visiting Faculty, Specially Appointed Researchers, Visiting Researchers,
  Collaborative Researchers, Commissioned Researchers, Research Fellows, Affiliated Researchers,
  and Exchange Researchers.
  * Individuals affiliated with private companies, etc., shall generally be treated as falling under item 6.
   However, if they meet the above conditions, they shall be treated as falling under item 1.
  * Submission of identification documents may be required to verify status.
  * Titles such as Professor Emeritus do not constitute an official status.

*2 Individuals equivalent to students of universities and colleges of technology:
Individuals holding an official status at the relevant institution and are engaged in academic studies or research
 at that institution, such as:
  Research students, auditors, non-degree students.
  * Individuals affiliated with private companies, etc., shall generally be treated as falling under item 6.
   However, if they meet the above conditions, they shall be treated as falling under item 2.
  * Submission of identification documents may be required to verify status.
